WORKPAC Newcastle grew by an impressive 1216 per cent over the past three years to be named as the Top Grower at the 2006 Fastest Growing awards.

The award was the highlight of the MAP Marketing Fastest Growing 2006 awards, which were announced at a black-tie dinner on Wednesday night at Wests Leagues Club.

Three hundred people attended the evening to recognise and applaud excellence in business.

Celebrating their eighth year, the restructured awards also recognised new enterprise and innovators.

WorkPac is an Australian-owned national recruitment firm offering a wide range of human resource services for the construction, electrical engineering, mining, industrial, transport and logistics sectors.

The company is also involved in the general manufacturing and food processing sectors.

WorkPac has comprehensive expertise in individual, group and project recruitment, contract labour hire and workforce management.

The company's proven commitment to workplace health and safety, sound industrial relations practices and investment in a strong regional network enables it to maintain specialist human resource services, even at a remote site.

NSW managing partner with WorkPac Chris Cracroft-Wilson said the company established in Newcastle four years ago.

In September 2004 a branch was set up in Singleton.

Mr Cracroft-Wilson said the contributions of all the WorkPac employees had contributed to its success as the Fastest Growing.

He said the secret of the company's success was its ability to perform at above-market expectations.

"The fact that we can do that for a reasonable fee structure represents value for money," he said.

"Being a specialist recruiter has allowed us to develop systems and procedures that deliver a quality service to our target market."

Mr Cracroft-Wilson said being named Fastest Grower was a boost for the company.

"It's recognition of our commitment and hard work," he said.

"We're all very happy to have been recognised at this level."

The Fastest Growing awards are designed to showcase the achievements of private enterprise.

The competition is open to all private business enterprises within the Hunter and Central Coast regions.

Special attention is paid to dollar turnover, employment numbers and export percentages.

Nominations are open to independent private companies, co-operatives, proprietorships and partnerships.
